The 717 Utility Pocket comes with a 3.5” large opening perfect for a small notepad, combo square, or small tool. The outside has two slots perfectly sized for pencil, sharpie, or Pica marker.

Great for storing pencils and markers. And at hands reach! Definitely worth the buy!
No more excuse not to have a pencil, sharpie, and probably several other marking tools with you. The 717 is a staple on my 701 vest, and gives me a home for a number of small tools, but primarily a couple types of pencils, markers, punches/sets, and even long bits. It often catches my Stud Buddy as well, which lives in there very securely because it sticks to the metal clip on the 717. (Photo from an install day. Currently setting up a True Precision Tools cabinet decorative hardware jig.)
This pouch stays right where I clip it, holds my Voltage tester and pencil + pen like a charm
Pouches are WAY too far off to the side. I want to be able to go for something in my belt without having to reach so far behind me for it.
